Day 5: Sushi (Advanced Group)
The Royal Rice
You know it… You may like it… It may be your favorite dish…

If you are wondering, the advanced group made sushi and garlic noodles today!!
We started off by washing our sushi rice in order to make it less sticky and to make it easier when we started to roll the sushi. Once our rice was clean we started the tedious process of cooking the rice. After our rice was completely cooked we had to season the rice. While seasoning the rice we had to be folding the rice and fanning the rice during the whole process. When the rice was completely seasoned we let it rest with a damp paper towel on top of it. It was somewhat of a spa treatment for the rice.

To not waste time, we started to cook the garlic noodles. While being a very simple recipe we had to cut a whole onion and a lot of garlic. If I am being honest, by the time I had finished mincing the garlic I never wanted to see garlic again. Once we had mixed the garlic sauce with the noodles and added some cheese, they were delicious! Don’t worry my anger towards the garlic went away after I tasted the noodles.
Preparing the rolls
Preparing the rolls
After the noodles were ready we quickly cut all of the ingredients that we needed for our sushi rolls. Making the sushi rolls was somewhat of a challenge because the rice kept sticking to our hands. We found out that if we dipped our hands in water the rice would not stick to our hands, and we could move the rice where we needed it. Once our rice was evenly distributed on our nori sheets, assembling the roll was very simple and fun. I think we all enjoyed making sushi and garlic noodles today, and would love to make it again.
